The Moon Moved!

That's the moon, cross my heart. It certainly brings new meaning to this Chinese classic by my mom's all-time favorite songstress.

Ceiling Crumbs

Or door crumbs? The house is falling down around our ears!

Old Shoes?

Continuing with the theme of "rainy days" - old sneakers are good for sploshing around on days like these, sans rain boots or umbrella. Anthropomorphism should be my default for no-picture days.

And had I known about this earlier, I'd have submitted the picture of Deedz.

Essentially No Picture

Nike? Adidas? Here shall the twain meet! I never thought it'll come down to me taking pictures of clothing purchases, but there are only so many rainy days that I want to capture on camera. :p Even my muse has abandoned me, flying from this drippy gloom.

Carbs and Calories

I would've licked the plate clean of Brunette Belgian praline spread.

Nuyorican Night

Pre-Nuyorican falafel sandwich at Cafe Rakka down the corner. Deedz is embarrassed by my snap-happiness. ;)

The incomparable Mahogany Browne, poetry slam mistress at the Nuyorican Poets' Cafe.

Bus

It feels like forever since I last took the campus bus.

Don't Shuffle in the Rain

Foolish to fiddle with it while out in a downpour. I really should start taking better care of my possessions! The new generation iPod shuffle looks really cute, though. ;)

Vegetable Curry

My biggest culinary success yet! (In my opinion, anyway.) This is also probably the last major cooking session before the return of ramen, pizza and Chinese takeout when the semester begins next week.

Recipe is adapted from mykitchensnippets.com.

I'm Sorry

I had to smack you, stranger. I tried to make it quick and painless.

Purple Matter

Made it as far as the kitchen today, and squeezed my grey matter trying to figure out what to do with this purple matter.

Unemployed, Day 2

This is so not a vacation. I can't wait to get out of the house again and do something.

Post-coffee Wakefulness

Not enough daylight hours today, after last night's strange doings. Now, what you be thinking? ;)

P.S. Dúgligan!

Turkish Coffee

The future lies in the murkiness of Turkish coffee dregs.

Purple Rice

Because I could not find taro, I had to make cabbage rice instead. Because I thought I'd try red cabbage for fun, I got purple rice instead. Because I wanted to vegetarian-ify the dish, I omitted the dried shrimp and oyster sauce. And so, I don't think this is a dish I'll be bringing to the potluck tomorrow! Plan B...?

Beer for Breakfast?

Beer bread that I baked this morning. It doesn't look like much, but it was a hit with my colleagues! Recipe from thenovicechefblog.

I'm rather sorry to say goodbye to this lot of people...

Berries

I don't know what kind of berries these are, but they grow on the pine-y trees that line the golf course I walk past everyday.

Walk and Sing

How to enjoy walking to and from work in negative temperatures: sing (or go "na na na") and almost-dance along to Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Black-Eyed Peas, Ting Tings, Akon, etc. Just make sure no one's within earshot, and that's easy where I walk.

Take Me Away

The campus bus schedule over Christmas/winter break is absolutely ridiculous. I'm thoroughly pissed off by it now.

Vacation

Jan 3, 2010 - Nothing beats the feeling of coming home.

Jan 2, 2010 - Sledding at Boston Commons.

---
Jan 1, 2010 - New Year's Triplet

Fireworks at Penn's Landing, Philadelphia - Happy New Year!

This picture was an accident, but I think it turned out nicely...

Everybody enjoys themselves at the Mummer's Parade.

Dec 31, 2009 - Food Duet

Brunch at Sabrina's Cafe. Stuffed caramelized challah french toast (excellent!) and blue cheese frittata (also wonderful!) and free coffee refills = great brunch.

Anatomically correct chocolate hearts at Reading Terminal Market, Philadelphia.

Dec 30, 2009 - The Spirit of Transportation - apt at the beginning of a vacation.
