Medieval Warfare

We are 5-12 year-olds who built this LEGO Kingdoms set. :)

I should have had these kinds of LEGO sets as a kid. My brother's set was a lot of bricks that I didn't know what to do with... hehe...

Elijah's Promise

Empowering Lives, Inviting Justice, Alleviating Hunger - That's Elijah's Promise, a local charity that does soup kitchen and other programs to help the poor and underprivileged in our local community. I'm part of a team that's raising funds for Elijah's Promise through the 2nd annual Turkey Trot, and today we had a soup sale on campus.

- One, two, three... we had NINE crock pots of soup!-

Thank you to everyone who showed up for the soup sale and supported us - we raised $820! I'm ashamed that I did not do as much as my other team members, but I'm very proud of them! Thank you also, to Dr. D for being so supportive...

Please support Elijah's Promise if you can; every little bit helps :) The link to my fundraising page is at the top of this post.

Lost, not yet Found

First, I lost my muse. Next, I've lost my camera. :'( It's been missing ever since the weekend of 4th of July...

Happy 4th!

Some tea and sympathy on the 4th of July.

"One thing in this country
That really bothers me
Is the inability of Yanks
To make a good cup of tea..."

The poet compared "Yank's" tea to gnat's piss! LOL

Two teapots from a whole array of colorful ones.

One part of Highline Park.

A lesson in geometric shapes and patterns.

Fat Witch brownies... mmmmm!

Peachy!

We came here originally to get some fresh fruit and/or veggies, then we saw that we could pick our own peaches for $1.29/lb! (We ended up with some 9 lbs...)

We stopped at this house on our way home because they were advertising baby rabbits for sale, but no one came to answer the doorbell. Nevertheless, it's a cute house with the pink lanterns. :)

Hidden Stream

-coming soon!-

We found a little trail away from the farmer's market that led to this stream and a bamboo grove further inside. Good job, Eagle-Scout-who-set-the-trail!

Qualifying Exam Results!

I was delaying finding out the results, hence random mushroom picture on my walk to where the results were posted. :p

ML took this. I was just relieved I wasn't below The Line ie, the one that separated those who passed from those who didn't. Phew!

Bumblebee!! I've never seen one before, much less taken a picture of it. :) It's a good day...

The Roundest Watermelon

That is seriously the roundest watermelon I've ever seen. It's globular.

I don't know why it's fuzzy like that. There's no dream setting on my camera...

The Return

Four days after my last post, I got the assigned papers for my qualifying examination, so over the subsequent two weeks and a few days, that consumed most of my time (ie, the time that wasn't spent procrastinating). Quals and studying for quals really put me out of the mood to take pictures, so here's one from today and the few that I did take during that time.

My "collection" amassed from about two days before quals.

May 31, 2010 - Auntie G and her flowers. Photo taken by ML (at my request ;)).

May 25, 2010 - Cuties I won at the Point Pleasant boardwalk a couple of weekends ago.

Another May 25, 2010 - One of my favorite ML dishes - lasagna.

May 21, 2010 - very successful second attempt at beer bread.
